The Final Product-Carmina

Last Day of Filming

Today I just wrapped up some final shots of Carmina (played by my good friend Alyssa Brown)
While I was editing today I decided to leave the song coming from the record. I was going to mute the audio and create my own piece but realize the intensity of the song which is Rockoczy March  from Hungarian Rhapsody by Franz Liszt. But in the other parts of Carmina's dream I played Chopin's Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2 in E-flat Major. Lastly for the final scene where Carmina is escaping the facility and running from the doctors I decided to record myself playing the dissonant notes of A natural and B flat (or A sharp) then when the doctors appeared I played E flat (D sharp) and D natural to add to the dissonance which reveals a theme of tension and suspense.

The last shot really ties in the suspense of it all with the change in color and lighting. I am content with the shots I got overall, can't wait to finish editing everything.

Don't you forget about me

A lot of mishaps. The font that I had originally created for my title would not transfer to iMovie, so I had to create my own on the spot. I have to work around this dilemma and see the positive side of it, at least with this it can be interpreted as the doctors notes on Carmina.

Thankfully today in filming my actors were excited to get the job done! Using the new color changing light was exciting and fun all around. I may have over shot but it's is better to have too many shots than not enough.

First Day of Filming

First day of filming I purchased scrubs for my two shaggy and sketchy "doctors" (there was a two for one special, thank goodness) and I purchased a color changing light from Lowes. There was great chemistry between the actors and they all listened and understood my directions and images as a director. Sometimes it is difficult to get an image from ones mine to be translated and executed the way they imagined it through someone else. We began shooting at 6:00 pm and ended at around 9:30 pm. My actors were hungry and exhausted, and on top of that we all had school the next day. We ended the night on a good note and later I uploaded all the footage to my computer.

lovely lullaby

I finally found who to have as my actors. My friend Alyssa Brown would be my lead. I would use her  two younger sisters as younger versions of her when I portray her flashbacks. I started filming the first part of the baby flashback.

Here is our baby actress Aria Brown!

I am filming with a Canon T2i

For the lighting I'm using this light RGB LED party light bulb from Bed Bath and Beyond.
The point of this scene is to portray the babies ability to see color while the baby is listening to a lullaby. Present day Carmina will see this flashback and will be confused because she believes the research facility is putting these images in her head, when in reality its her.

Make way Scarlett O'Hara, Carmina is here.

I've done even more research and decided to make the characters name Carmina. The name Carmina means song in Italian and Spanish. I got the idea from when I was looking for special names for colors and I ran into the name Carmine which is a deep red, which would be suitable for my characters fiery and rebellious emotions. The use of both names Carmine and Carmina perfectly suits the combination of music and color.  In her flashbacks the character will be dressed in red or colorful clothes but more emphasis on red. But when she is in the center she will be dressed in all white to show her non chromatic lifestyle.
